Mercuria Employees Support Local Students

Mercuria and its employees in Houston, Texas are proud to support the efforts of the Houston Food Bank’s Backpack Buddy Program, an endeavour that provides nutritious, child-friendly food for school children who are at-risk of hunger.
Mercuria employees raised $940, which the company matched to make a total contribution of $1,880, to fill around 940 backpacks. Each backpack provides enough food to feed a child throughout the weekend.
Employees also prepared 1,000 hand-written notes of encouragement to be placed in the backpacks.
One in four southeast Texas children do not have consistent access to enough nutritious food. Many rely on school meals to provide breakfast and lunch during the school year. The Backpack Buddy Program, with Mercuria’s support, provides meals for the holidays and weekends, when these children may go home to little or no meals.
Mercuria supports a wide range of charitable social programs and events. In particular, for 2018 Mercuria’s focus in North America is on projects that help underprivileged children in the communities in which we operate.
